Tatis

Fernando Tatis has been suspended for 80 games for PED usage. He is a star player for the San Diego Padres, but was out all season though. He claims that the ringworm medications contained  the drug.

              He is a star player. He nearly won rookie of the year in 2019 and came in the top 5 of MVP the last two years. He hit 44 homeruns last year and that lead the National League. He has been out all year with an injury in the offseason. He fell off a motorbike and injured his wrist.

              He claims that the substance that was found was for ringworm. I don’t believe this because the substance in ringworm is similar name to the drug but not the same. I don’t know If he had ringworm.

              He will be a huge miss for the team because many people were hoping for a playoff team this year. They also got Juan Soto on the team, a star player, and Manny Machado. Their pitching isn’t to bad either. They have two former Cy Young winners.

                                                Liege Bastogne Liege

Remco Evenepoel, from Belgium won the 2022 Liege Bastogne Liege, despite not being one of the top favourites. He attacked from 29 kilometers to go. He is the first belguim to podium since 2011. It was overshadowed by a huge crash.

            The top favourite before this week was the defending champion, Tadej Pogacar. He didn’t start because of a family emergency and Wout Van Aert became the main one. Julian Alaphilippe was also a favourite.

            Remco rides for the  same team as Alaphilippe. After Alaphilippe crashed out he had the green light. The team’s name is Quickstep Alpha Vinyl. They have beenthe greatest team since 2013, with only Ineos/Sky coming close.

            This is the first solo attack that worked since 2019. Jakob Fuglsang was the guy in 2019. The last two editions were both won in a reduced bunch sprint.

            The last time a Belgium podiumed was in 2011 Philippe Gilbert won it. This time Belgiums won all three sports with Quinten Hermans and Wout van Aert on the podium.

            The crash happened with 59 Kilometers to go. Julian Alaphilippe who was a favourite crashed badly. He is the reigning world champion and was senond last year. Romain Bardet tried to help him to no avail despite being from another team.

John Madden

              John Madden, legendary coach for the Oakland and LA Raiders has died on the 28th of December 2021. He was 85 years old.

              He coached the Raiders from 1969 to 1978. He won a super bowl and a coach of the year. He is considered one of the greatest coaches.

              He also had some stuff off the field. He became a commentator with Pat Summerall. He also appeared on every Madden from the first till 2000. That series is named after him and is a very popular video game.

Olympics

The United States may do a diplomatic boycott of the 2022 Winter Olympic games because of human rights. T Athletes can still participate though. They have boycotted before as a full blown boycott in 1980.

              The Games will be held in China. A lot of human rights violations there. Like if you protest that’s a 5-6yarm  prision sentence. Also some Canadians have been locked up there for reasons I don’t know.

              A diplomatic boycott means that athletes  can participate but have no government  officials there. This includes the president, vice president and everyone else. But it wont hurt the athletes who have worked all their lives to compete.   They still, might compete under the USA or Olympic flag.

              The 1980 boycott is the biggest in history. The United States were joined by 63 nations to protest the Russian invasion of Afghanistan. The games were in the Soviet Union. Others competed but boycotted the ceremonies and competed under the Olympic flag.  The Russians then boycotted our games 4 years later with many eastern bloc countries.

Jaguars Win

For the first time since 2020 the Jacksonville jaguars won a game. They beat the Miami Dolphins 23-20. They had lost twenty straight games.

Their last win was on week one of last year. They got the number one pick in 2021 going 1-15. They lost twenty straight and almost was at the record. They drafted Trevor Lawrence with the first pick. Trevor went to Clemson and plays quarterback.

The record is 26 straight games set by the expansion Tampa bay Buccaneers in 1976 and 1977. The Buccaneers were just in their first year though and have done more since. They entered the league with the Seattle Seahawks that year.

Jamarr Chase

Jamarr Chase is having an historic rookie season for the Cincinnati Bengals.He is second in the league in receiving yards and has 733 yards and 7 touchdowns. He is the favorite to win rookie of the year.

              He was drafted in 2021 with the fifth overall pick. A lot of people said that they should have drafted Penei Sewell a offensive lineman instead.

THis year the Bengals are 6-2 which is the second best record in the league. Only the Arizona Cardinals in the other conference are better who are undefeated.

The Bengals have a very talented second year quarterback in Joe Burrow who was on is way for rookie of the year last year before he got injured. Chase has had over fifty yards every game this season with over 700 yards receiving. He is the best stats by a rookie wide receiver.

Jon Gruden

              John Gruden former coach of the Las Vegas Raiders has resigned. He has been there for 3 years and was head coach with the same team in 1998 to 2001.

              He resigned because of alleged emails years ago about homophobia. He was also racist in those emails to the Washington Football teams GM He also called commissioner Roger Goodell a “faggot” and someone who doesn’t care about the sport. He also said that Roger pressured a team to draft a gay player.

              He also coached for the Tampa bay Bucs in 2008. He won Super Bowl XXXVI with the Bucs. He has a record of 117 wins and 112 losses. He was also a coach for other teams before withy the Raiders the first time.

Tom Brady

              Tom Brady has broken the all time passing record. He has passed for 80,000 yards in his career and 591 Touchdowns which are both records. Drew Brees was the previous record holder.

              He did it against his former team the New England Patriots. He led the Patriots to all 6 of their super bowls. He is now a Tampa Bay Buccaneer. He was drafted in the sixth round in 2000 by the Patriots. He is considered one of the biggest steals.

              Drew Brees only broke the record last year. He played for the New Orleans Saints and broke Peyton Manning’s record. Manning played for the Colts and Broncos. Brees retired after the playoffs last year.

              I think both of his records will stay. It might be forever if no one that great comes. Brady also wants to play till he is 50.

New NFL Record

            Justin Tucker of the Baltimore Ravens has set a new NFL record. He kicked a field goal 66 yards. Its controversial because of the referees but it counts in the record books.

            Justin is one of the best kickers ever. Since 2019 he has missed only 2 field goals. He has been kicking for 9 years. He has spent all of his career with the Ravens. His previous long was 61 yards in 2012. He has made 291 out of 321 attempts.

            The previous record was 64 yards set by Matt Prater at 62 yards. The coolest in my opinion was 63 by tom Dempsey because he didn’t have part of his foot. Many kickers have kicked longer in practice but not in actual game.

            This is a great record. He will certainly be inducted into the hall of fame if he keeps what he is doing up. He is just that good.

Guerrero

Vladimir Guerrero

 Vladimir Guerrero Jr might win the Triple crown this year but not the MVP. This has never happened before because every other triple crown winner won MVP. Shohei Ohtani is the person in front of him.

Shohei big advantage is that he can pitch. He is hitting 260 with 45 homeruns. He is pitching 9-3 3.3 something ERA. He is sometimes called the next Babe Ruth and is from Japan.

Vladimir is the son of Vladimir Guerrero Sr who is a hall of famer. He has hit 320 with 46 homers and 105 RBIS. He leads the league in average and homeruns and is second in RBiS. He can hit for average and homeruns and is fast.

The last player to win the triple crown was Miguel Cabrera in 2012. He hit 343 with 44 homeruns and 139 RBiS. Carl Yastrzemski was the previous one in 1967.

I think Guerrero should be MVP. Shohei will probably still win it but in any other year Guerrero would have been MVP. I hope Guerrero wins the triple crown.
